My revision isn’t going very well and I don’t think I’m going to do that well in my A-Levels. I have been offered lots of places but with conditional offers. What happens if I don’t make my grades and I can’t get in anywhere? I really want to go away to uni and study a degree in physics. What happens if I don’t make the grade?”

Xcel advice: Firstly, chill! Haven’t you ever heard of CLEARING? Make sure you get a Clearing Entry Form from UCAS. On the day of your results if you haven’t got the right grades ring your university to see if your place has not been accepted. If so don’t panic, run down to your local newsagents and buy a copy of The Independent Newspaper that prints all the clearing results. This Clearing section will contain a list of courses at universities in the UK where they still have places in your chosen subject… then get dialling and speak to the universities direct with your results. You see, it’s not over till the clearing bell dings so our advice is to relax after your exams and enjoy your summer before results day! For more information on the clearing system then log onto the UCAS website: www.ucas.com
