History Degrees may not sound very sexy. However, next time you go to the cinema have a look at all the History-based films there have been that have been blockbusters. Troy, Saving Private Ryan, Pearl Harbour, to name but a few. Therefore, our love of history is very much alive and well.
History Degrees of course will not of course feature the study of historical films, many of which have been doctored to suit the needs of the Hollywood audiences. However, it is true that these films bring the subject of History into our living rooms making history as a subject more relevant to us, more accessible and, dare I say it, maybe even a bit sexier!
A Degree in History therefore may be just for you is indeed you are interested in knowing the real facts about an event or you simply want to understand the way the world works today because of events that happened yesteryear.

Studying a History Degrees. What’s the point in that then, you may ask. Well…did you know that more captains of industry hold a History degree than any other subject? Graduates of History have also gone on to work at high levels in a wide array of subjects from Journalism to Television (Jonathan Ross, Louis Theroux) to working as teachers and university vice-chancellors - even Prince Charles has a history degree!
