Cardiff University has a small number of full scholarships available for UK and EU citizen’s to study for the new MSc in Data and Information Fusion, starting in October 2007.


Scholarships are either funded by the EPSRC or by the Data and Information Fusion Defence Technology Centre (DIF DTC):


- Fees paid plus a stipend of £12,300 awarded (approx £240 per week)
- total package worth over £15,000


In addition, candidates holding the DIF DTC scholarships will be awarded a General Dynamics prize bursary of £4,000 upon successful completion of their studies.


The EPSRC scholarships are open to UK and EU nationals; the DIF DTC scholarships are open to UK nationals only.


All eligible students will be involved in an industry-based research project in the third semester with one of the DIF DTC industry sponsors: General Dynamics UK, BTexact or QinetiQ – which could lead to opportunities for subsequent employment or PhD study in the DIF DTC postgraduate school.

Applicants need to have a strong background in mathematics, applied sciences, computer science or engineering – and an enthusiasm for interdisciplinary applications.


Data and Information Fusion is an important interdisciplinary activity aimed at providing the right information to the right person at the right time, to ensure that decision-makers have the information they need to make reliable and timely decisions. DIF finds wide application, for example, in medicine, sports science, fi nance, environmental science, defence and homeland security.
